ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher (one of them) was Mrs. Honeycutt. She encouraged my love of reading and story telling.

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Boles. She encouraged active learning a model I tried to follow in my own class when I became a teacher. I have so many fond memories of that year but the most came from our unit on ancient Egypt. We created mini-mummies and when that wasn't enough Mrs. Boles bought chicken wire and we wrapped poor Randy Brown in it to create a mummy mold. Then we paper mache-ed it and created a life-sized version. She passed away when I was in college studying education and I remember thinking how sad it was that the world lost such a wonderful teacher.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorite teachers was my 4th grade teacher, Ms. Rose. As a first year teacher, we were her first students, and she treated us as her own. She read aloud to us every day after lunch, and we hung on every word. She allowed us to truly express ourselves through our writing and creativity. The students in that class bonded into a family! We invented projects and presented them for "funding," had a Greek festival and dressed up as gods/goddess, and so much more. She is an inspiration to me as I teach.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my high school AP Calculus teacher. The class was the most challenging class I have ever taken, and he pushed us so far past our limit. It was frustrating at first, but at the end of the year when our class took the AP Calculus exams our entire class passed with flying colors. He taught me that when your students don't believe in themselves, YOU, the teacher, need to believe in them, and help push them to their limit. I'm so grateful for having him as a teacher, and he has been a great inspiration to me.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite teacher was my 9th grade English teacher. She really revolutionized my thinking about writing and what good writing consisted of. She introduced our class to a lot of really great books as well. I will always be grateful for the year I spent in her classroom.
