It's Monday! What are You Reading? 10-22-12

Originally hosted by Sheila at Book Journey, Jen and Kellee  over at Teach Mentor Texts also host a kidlit version of It's Monday! What are You Reading?

Last week I read:

Edwina, The Dinosaur Who Didn't Know She Was Extinct by Mo Willems
The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind by William Kamkwamba and Brian Mealer, illustrated by Elizabeth Zunon

Currently Reading:

Pathways to the Common Core by Lucy Calkins, Mary Ehrenworth, and Christopher Lehman
The Trouble with May Amelia by Jennifer L. Holm
I actually started listening to the audiobook of The Trouble with May Amelia, last week but the narrator was so incredibly apathetic and unemotional that I couldn't listen to it anymore so I decided the check out the real book instead.

Currently listening:

Swim the Fly by Don Calame
Jake and Lily by Jerry Spinelli

Last week I reviewed:

Yes, Chef by Marcus Samuelsson
Because It Is My Blood by Gabrielle Zevin

  1. You had a busy week. I read Boy Who Harnessed the Wind recently, too. Powerful story.

Here's my It's Monday! What Are You Reading? I hope you will drop by!

  2. Hi there Beth, as per usual, I love the titles you have here. I've been meaning to find The Boy who Harnessed the Wind - I've heard so many good things about it. The Trouble with May Amelia has also been receiving a lot of love. And Jerry Spinelli! We have a collection of his titles here at home, but haven't found this one yet, must be a new one. Thanks for sharing all these!

  3. I giggled a little at your current reading choices. Thank goodness there are books like May Amelia to balance out the excitement of books like Pathways to the Common Core ;)

I enjoyed Jake and Lily, and would be interested to hear it on audio. Does it use two separate narrators?

  4. Interesting that you put aside a audio book and decided to check it out on another format. I struggle to listen to audio books. I notice I don't connect with the characters and often forget what's happened in the storyline! Maybe I need to find a book with a great narrator! Now I am going back to read your review of Yes, Chef. Thanks for sharing.

  5. How are you liking Swim the Fly? I always hear good things about it, but it doesn't circulate well at my library. Here's my list http://wp.me/pzUn5-1gB

  6. I'll have to check again for the audio of Jake and Lily at my library, the last time I looked they didn't have an audio version yet. I love audiobooks. They make me happy, I always can get so much more done with an audiobook. :)
